An Entertainer’s Paradise

This Minakami home was completed in 2019 and is located just 2 hours drive from central Tokyo. By bullet train, it is 70 minutes to Jomo Kogen Station, followed by a 12 minute drive to the house. It is also a 5 minute drive from the local train station, Kamimoku.

The idyllic hillside location is sparsely populated by a friendly, mainly foreign community. The house is perfectly positioned facing South West and enjoys a massive amount of winter sun and views across the neighboring valley all year round.

There are many onsen nearby, and the location is great for winter sports with 9 ski resorts within a 20 minute drive and many more further afield. Summer hiking, canoeing, white-water rafting, and much more are also frequent activities amongst the locals and visitors alike.

The driveway is private, has ample parking, and comes with a Suzuki 4×4 ready to go with winter tires and chains. Tack on your very own mature Sakura tree on this modest 470m2 plot of land, and you’ve got a guaranteed great time.

Custom built to a very high European standard with accommodation spread over a spacious two and a half floors, the house has a very open plan feel to it and is a true entertainer.

Minakami Original

This house was built by the current owner and local tradesmen to the highest standard using imported materials on solid concrete foundations.

Minakami can get cold in the winter, but this house is built to keep you nice and warm. It sports super thick Rockwool R20 and R38 semi passive fully insulated home for year-round comfort, a European hydronic underfloor heating system throughout main areas and bathrooms, and triple glazed thermally broken aluminum windows and doors throughout. Along with the clean burn Di Lusso wood burner with double skin flue, you will be able to keep the chill well and truly out.

Additionally, the property is outfitted with a Vent Axia MVHR built in central air ventilation system which cycles air throughout the year to ensure that you won’t have to worry about mold or mildew.

The exterior is built with beautiful Western red cedar external cladding, has an asphalt shingle roof, and a 12-meter stone clad chimney. Inside, there is American walnut timber flooring, and European kitchen appliances built into a custom full European spec kitchen with Spanish wall tiles. From the dining area, you can access a large, south-facing sun drenched timber deck.

The entire facility has 3 toilets, 2 showers with 1 large bathroom with changing room. It sleeps 8-12, and even has an undercroft storage area to keep an arsenal of wine at the ready.

Rafting Rapids, Plowing Powder, Chasing Rainbows in Minakami

Minakami is well-known for its wide selection of winter activities, but it is so much more than just a Winter Wonderland!

Canyons will take you down the mighty Tone River, which also happens to serve as Tokyo’s watershed.

MTB Japan will take you to the top of Minakami’s many mountains and then back down on an unforgettable mountain biking experience.

You’ll find ample business amenities at Telework Minakami, a business resource recently developed in a reclaimed abandoned elementary school.

And as a cherry on top, you’ll most likely be surrounded by jaw-dropping vistas colored by Minakami’s most charming secret: a veritable gold mine of rainbows!
